Recipient: Manish Tadon
Date Awarded: July 13, 2017
I am Dr Manish Tandon a practicing senior Vitreo- Retinal consultant who has beenworking in the field of pediatric Vitreo retinal disaeses for the last seven years and specifically on the Retinopathy of prematrity as it is presenting as an epidemic in Indiaand is a form of avoidable blindness.
I was working in Araving eye Hopital and Post Graduate Institute of Ophthalmology,Madurai for the last 9 years but now I have shifted to Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh (the mostpopulous state of India) but in terms of care of retinal disaeses there are very few doctorsavailable and none for Retinopathy of prematurity and the number of babies losing theireyesight due to this disease are very high.
I had submitted the paper for the ROP congress when i was working in Aravind eyehospital but now I do not have any financial support to attend this meeting. This meetingwill help me in sharpening my clinical and diagnostic skills further and I may be able tofind people who may collborate.
I have experience of training other ophthalmologists and when I was in Madurai i havetrained many practicing opthalmologists in screening for ROP. I have also done USAIDprograme for ROP very successfully in Arvind eye hospital , Madurai and had screenedmore than 4000 babies in 2 years and treated many babies successfully and not even a single baby had any complication.
Currently I am unable to afford the travel to Cancun, Mexico to attend the conferenece and present my paper and it will be very helpful if i can be given the support to travel and attend the conference.
